Iran to boost oil production by 500,000 barrels daily

The increase in oil production capacity is among the National Iranian Oil Company's top priorities, according to the managing director of the National Iranian Oil Company.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) Iran is increasing its daily oil production by500,000 barrels afterthe sanctions againstTehran are removed officially, the managing director ofthe National Iranian Oil Company said Monday.
"We are currently monitoring the problems and obstacles our banks are facing with, sinceit will take a few weeks tobe solved and once there would be no other major problem, Iran would definitely be ready toboost production and export," Roknoddin Javadi said, asquoted bythe company.


According toJavadi, the increase inproduction capacity is amongthe companys top priorities.
"Today, there is a great opportunity toaccelerate the pace ofdevelopment and it certainly affects the oil industry inan extensive way," the official said.


The European Union, the United States and the United Nations lifted their sanctions againstthe Islamic Republic afterthe International Atomic Energy Agency verified late onSaturday Tehrans compliance witha nuclear agreement reached last July. The lifting ofsanctions allows Iranian oil producers tore-enter the market.

The announcement comes amidoversupply inthe global oil market, withthe Organization ofthe Petroleum Exporting Countries refusing tocut downits daily output.

According toOPEC, Iran currently exports just over1 million barrels ofoil per day, producing over3 million barrels daily.
