Iran, China agree to establish Silk Road Scientific Fund

Tehran, January24, The Iran Project A senior official at Iran's presidential deputy for science and technology says that following the earlier partnership between Iran's Deputy for Science and Technology and China Academy of Sciences, Iran and China inked an MOUto establish the joint Silk Road Scientific Fund.

Parviz Karami, the advisor to Iranian Vice-President for Science and Technology made the remarks on Saturday, saying that Iran and China signed a memorandum of understanding to establish the Silk Road Scientific Fund following the previous partnership between Iran's Deputy for Science and Technology and China Academy of Sciences.

Noting the visiting of the Chinese high profile delegation to Tehran and the joint meeting for further scientific and academic ties, he added that the Silk Road Scientific Fund aims to enhance the cooperation through conducting joint research projects, holding workshops and the academic exchange programs.

"The establishment of the joint science and technology parks is another agreement signed by two countries on Saturday", he said, stressing that nano-technology, cognitive sciences, new energies and medical equipment are another fields of cooperation which according to him are to be expanded through the Silk Road Fund.

Earlier on Saturday, along with China President's visit to Tehran and singing of 17 documents between two countries to enhance the bilateral ties, Soorena Sattari, Iranian Vice President for Science and Technology Affairs and Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs also inked a memorandum of understanding to establish a joint Silk Way Scientific Fund.
