Chabahar, Feb 3, IRNA Managing-Director of Chabahar Free Trade Zone Hamed Ali Mobaraki said on Wednesday that more than $86 million of commodities were imported or exported from Chabahar Port over the past Iranian calendar month (Day).
Speaking to IRNA, Mobaraki said that motor vehicles and raw materials needed for production units were among main commodities imported or exported from the southeastern Iranian port.
Imports of goods from Chabahar Port over the past month showed 50 percent increase compared to figures from last year, the official said.
Mohammad-Hashem Rasouli, a senior member of Afghanistan's Chamber of Commerce, said on Wednesday that Chabahar Port is the best option for trade activities of Afghan merchants.
Chabahar Port is an economic free zone in which no taxes are taken from merchants and is 800 km nearer to the land-locked Afghanistan in comparison to Karachi in Pakistan, Rasouli said.
