Tehran, Feb 10, IRNA - The Guardian Council on Wednesday confirmed former decision to reject competence of grandson of late Imam Khomeini to run for the Guardian Council election saying he would have taken exam for religious jurisprudent.
The Guardian Council said that Seyed Hassan Khomeini refused to take part in the exam all applicants were required to.
Supporters of the late Imam's grandson including several religious leaders have acknowledged his credentials as a religious jurisprudent.
Religious jurisprudent -- Mojtahid -- is a spiritual leader capable of 'independent reasoning' in line with the Islamic Sharia Law.
The Mojtahid has the credentials to issue religious rulings and religious edicts.
