BOUSHEHR, Feb. 17 (MNA) PSEEZ managing director said Irans gas harvest at South Pars will have surpassed Qatar before the incumbent government leaves office.
Managing Director of Pars Special Economic Energy Zone (PSEEZ) Mahdi Yousefi asserted South Pars isthe world's largest gas field shared between Iran and Qatar located in the Persian Gulf; field covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, of which 3,700 square kilometers is in Iranian territorial waters and 6,000 square kilometers is in Qatari territorial waters.
Upon adopting new strategies by the Oil Ministry, the refineries of developmental Phases 12, 15 and 16 have become fully operational while Phases 17 and 18 are on road to completion, stressed the official adding with the development of South Pars gas field by the end of the incumbent government, Irans daily production at the joint field will outshine that of the Qatari side.
Yousefi further reported a total of 170 million cubic meters of natural gas have been produced at South Pars field over the past two year while the figure for the past ten years had only reached 270 million cubic meters indicating a sharp rise in gas production over the recent years.
PSEEZ managing director estimated that Irans gas production at the joint field will reach 700 million cubic meters by the year 2018, a trend indicating that Iran will leave Qatar behind in terms ofgas harvest at South Pars gas field.
