According to The Iran Project, In an interview with Iran newspaper, Araqchi said Iran’s policy of patience is not a passive one, but comes with initiatives.
He said Iran dismisses a passive policy and will never wait to see how others would decide for us. “We have a planning even for probable nuclear negotiations,” the minister said.
Pointing to the ongoing “indirect talks” with the US and the existing channel of negotiations with the European troika, Araqchi said, “We are also cooperating with (IAEA Director General) Mr. Grossi and the (International) Atomic Energy Agency, as there is a new idea for the settlement of issues which we are assessing.”
Asked about the US president’s policies on Iran, the foreign minister stated that Iran will never enter into negotiations while the other side is applying maximum pressure.
“This is not a matter of obstinacy or idealism. It is a matter of expertise. It must be proved to the other side that the policy of pressure is not working, so that we can then sit at the negotiating table on equal footing,” Araqchi added.
