Speaking to reporters in the Interior Ministrys Election Headquarters in Tehran, Zolfaqari said so far, no anti-security development has been reported during the parliamentary and Assembly of Experts elections.
The elections across the country, in border provinces in particular, are being held in peace and security, the deputy minister said.
From this morning, the atmosphere of the elections has been closely monitored by the countrys Election Headquarters every moment, he said, adding that no security case has been reported.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Zolfaqari warned the parliamentary candidates about the consequences of their possible illegal actions, saying that the interior ministry has announced to all constituencies across the country that no individual or group has the rights to declare victory before official results were announced.
Polling stations across Iran opened at 8 am and are scheduled to work for 10 hours. Some 55 million Iranians are eligible to cast their votes in the two elections.
There are 290 seats in the Iranian parliament, elected by direct vote of people in nationwide election for four years.
The Assembly of Experts is also a high-ranking body that elects and oversees the activities of the leader of the Islamic Revolution.
Members of the 88-seat assembly are directly elected to office by people for an eight-year term. It holds biannual meetings to appoint a new chairman.
