Tehran, March 12, IRNA President Hassan Rouhani attended the third congress of Martyr's Day, here on Saturday morning.
A number of Iranian high ranking officials accompanied the president and attended the congress.
President Rouhani is expected to award a number of the Martyrs' families and give a speech to the ceremony.
Iranians around the country hold ceremonies to commemorate Martyr's Day which is marked in Iran on 22nd of Esfand (March 12).
Following the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979, led by late Imam Khomeini, Iran was forced into an 8-year war with its neighbor Iraq, ruled by Saddam Hussein's Ba'th regime. More than 200 thousand Iranians lost their lives in the war which started in 1980 and lasted for 8 years.
