FM back home from Southeast Asia-Oceania tour

Tehran, March 17, IRNA Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif retuned home Thursday morning from a six-nation tour to Southeast and Oceania started on March 5.


The Iranian foreign minister visited Indonesia, Singapore, Brunei, Thailand, New Zealand and Australia.

While in Jakarta, Zarif attended the fifth Extraordinary Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Sharif.

He later travelled to Singapore and Brunei and held talks with a number of top officials of those countries, reviewing bilateral ties.

Then in Thailand, the Iranian foreign minister took part in the 14th Asia Cooperation Dialogue Ministerial Meeting.

After Bangkok, Zarif flew to New Zealand and Australia and held talks with senior officials there, discussing bilateral relations, economic cooperation in particular, during the post-sanctions era.

Anti-Iran sanctions were lifted on January 16 following the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) which was made between Iran and the world six major powers on July 14, 2015.
