Gasoil export up 3,275%: NIOPDC

TEHRAN, April 4 (Shana) Iran exported 300,000 tons of gasoil last year (ended March 19) which shows an increase of 3,275 percent compared to the preceding year, said an official in the National Iranian Oil Production and Distribution Company (NIOPDC).

NIOPDCs performance in the fields of exports and bunkering has been highly satisfactory achieving forecasts in most of the fields, Esmaeil Hasham-Firouz, the companys director of export and import told Shana.

However, due to market fluctuations, the gasoil projections were not met as the prices fell from 970 dollars to 280 dollars, he added, Our annual gasoil export forecast for last year was 500,000 tons which did not exceed 300,000 tons although it achieved a 3,275 percent increase.

Hasham-Firouz also said that Irans achievement in turning form an importer to an exporter of gasoil contributed to the giant leap in export of the product last year asserting that the 500,000 target will be realized in the current year.

Bunkering of gasoil, and furnace oil also increased 94 percent to 240,325 tons and 25 percent to 4.4 million tons last year respectively, he said.

The official added that international, Persian Gulf, and Oman Sea market are main destinations for Irans fuel oil and that NIOPC has plans to curb smuggling of products to the neighboring countries including Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iraq.

Jet fuel and kerosene export increased to 15,000 tons and 13,500 tons marking a 400 percent and 2,600 percent record respectively, the NIOPDC director said.

Hashem-Firouz also announced an increase of 400 percent in the export of liquefied gas to 127,000 tons saying that last year the company experienced a period with rising figures in bunkering of all products and started identifying of new markets and construction of additional infrastructure.
