Iranian researchers use sunlight to expedite water treatment process

TEHRAN, Apr. 06 (MNA) Iranian researchers used a light-sensitive nanocomposite in water treatment that is able to use sunlight to expedite the process of removal and elimination of organic pollutants significantly.

Farid Mirhosseini, the project manager, said his team synthesized a nanocomposite with photocatalytic properties to use for pre-treatment of water used in facility systems. Then, they set on designing a system which would be capable of simultaneouslyattracting and destroying pigments present in textile wastewater and optimizing environmental factors.

Mirhosseini noted the advantages of using photocatalyst nanocomposites as the nanocomposites independence in performance from the waters pH, maintaining high quality in performance despite frequent use, reduced environmental negative impacts compared to current systems, high efficiency and eliminating chemical processes in wastewater treatment.

Our product is being mass-produced at knowledge-based Rizfanavaran Green Chemistry company located in Arak University, he said.

According to him, the said nanocomposite can also be used in production of self-cleaning and antimicrobial coatings.
