TEHRAN (FNA)- UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura said the world body and Iran have come into terms with each other over three important points with regard to the Syrian crisis settlement.
De Mistura made the remarks after meeting Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian in Tehran on Tuesday.
"The important point in the agreement with Amir Abdollahian is the cessation of hostilities and its durability," he said.
He described sending humanitarian aid to all Syrian people, specially for those besieged by the terrorists, as another pivot of his today agreement with Iran.
De Mistura also said that pursuing the trend for political transfer in Syria was the third point in the agreement that he and Amir Abdollahian struck today.
Stressing the importance of consultations with Iranian officials on Syria, he said, "Their ideas are effective and I certainly use their recommendations."
Iranian officials have always underscored the necessity for settlement of the crisis in Syria through talks and political means.
Late last month, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani called for continued ceasefire in Syria and acceleration of the political talks to end the foreign-backed proxy war on the Arab country.
Concurrent with the ceasefire, political negotiations should speed up. The truce and political negotiations should not disrupt the relentless campaign against terrorists and terrorist groups in Syria, Rouhani said in a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
He also said cooperation and consultation among Iran and Russia would play a leading role in consolidating peace and stability in Syria.
Only the Syrian people can decide about Syria and the future of their countrys political system, Rouhani added.
He hailed the Syrian government forces recapture of the ancient city of Palmyra from the ISIL terrorist group, saying it indicates that the Syrian Army and people have become stronger.
