Tehran, April 18, IRNA Minister of Agricultural Jihad Mahmoud Hojjati said on Monday that Iran and France will make joint investment in fisheries and acquaculture.
In a meeting with French Minister of State for Transport, Marine Affairs and Fisheries Alain Vidalies on Monday, Hojjati said expansion of cage farmed acquacreatures and launching joint marketing for the products are among areas of mutual cooperation.
He said Iran and France have had long record of cooperation in fisheries and the cooperation will expand after implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
The Minister said a number of French companies have held talks with Iranian private sector and Iranian Fisheries Organization.
He said that last year, a fish farming center was established on Qeshm Island in cooperation with French companies, which was a successful experience.
He added that per the Sixth Five-Year Economic Development Plan, the capacity of farming caged fish will rise to 200,000 tons a year.
