Zuma visits Isfahan

Isfahan, April 25, IRNA South African President Jacob Zuma arrived in Isfahan after his one day trip to capital, Tehran.

He was welcomed by the Iranian Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian and local officials upon arrival.

Isfahan is one of the greatest Iranian historical provinces and Zuma is here to see historical monuments.

Zuma arrived in Tehran early Sunday and met with Iranian high ranking officials including the Iranian Leader and President during his one day visit to the Capital.

This is the second South African head of state visit to Iran, the first having been undertaken by President Nelson Mandela in 1999.

Zuma's state visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran will serve to cement the strong fraternal relations between the two countries that originated during the apartheid era when Iran cut ties with apartheid South Africa.

In addition, the lifting of nuclear-related sanctions against Iran provides immense potential for closer commercial and investment co-operation between South Africa and Iran.
