Ground set for stronger ties with Bangladesh: Irans president
TEHRAN (Tasnim) Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said the recent termination of anti-Tehran sanctions has prepared the ground for closer relations between Iran and the Muslim friend, Bangladesh, in all areas.

President Rouhani held a meeting with new Bangladeshi Ambassador Mujeeb ul-Rahman in Tehran on Tuesday.

Assuring Bangladesh of the Iranian government and nations support for closer bilateral ties, President Rouhani said the two countries have common views in different international circles.

He also noted that the removal of anti-Iran sanctions under a lasting nuclear deal between Tehran and world powers has paved the way for the expansion of the countrys relations with Bangladesh.

The nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), was finalized between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) in July 2015 and came into force on January 16.

The president further voiced Tehrans preparedness to boost academic and scientific relations with Dhaka and provide the South Asian country with its technical and engineering experiences.

The envoy, who submitted his credentials to President Rouhani during the meeting, called for promotion of cooperation in political and economic fields.
