Russia to make every effort to deliver S-300 air defense systems to Iran

Moscow strives to deliver Russia's S-300 air defense systems to Iran.





MOSCOW (Sputnik) Moscow expends its best efforts toperform a contract fordeliveries ofRussia's S-300 air defense systems toIran, the director ofthe Federal Service forMilitary-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) said Monday.
"Everything depends onboth parties. We do our best tofulfill the contract," Alexander Fomin told reporters.


He added that the deliveries ofthe S-300 systems were ongoing, however, withoutthe specific number ofcomplexes, which had already been delivered toTehran.


At the same time, he denied reports abouta contract fordelivery of advanced S-400 air defense systems toIndia.

The $900-million Moscow-Tehran contract todeliver five Russian S-300 systems toIran was signed in2007. It was suspended afterthe imposition ofthe UN Security Council sanctions onIran inmid-2010.

In 2015, Moscow annulled the S-300 delivery ban, afterIran and six world powers, including Russia, reached a framework nuclear deal tolift the anti-Tehran sanctions inexchange forguarantees ofthe peaceful nature ofits nuclear activities.

On April 27, Indian Minister ofState Rao Inderjit Singh said that India and Russia had already signed a deal forthe S-400s delivery.
