French authorities admit EgyptAir passenger jet crashed - Hollande

Authorities in France have accepted that the vanished EgyptAir passenger jet has crashed over Mediterranean sea, French President Francois Hollande said.





French President Francois Hollande confirmed Thursday that EgyptAir flight MS804 had crashed en route fromParis toCairo, and said that no hypotheses towhy the disaster took place could be excluded.
"It crashed. There were 66 people onboard including 15 French nationals," the Elysee Palace said onTwitter, quoting Hollande. "No hypothesis is excluded."

However, currently there is no preferable version onreason ofEgyptAir disappearance, Hollande added.

Francois Hollande, the French President, said authorities have been "mobilised" and inquiries have started.

"The truth will be found," he said, expressing his condelences toeveryone involved. "No hypothesis is discounted, no hypothesis is privileged."

Earlier Egyptian Prime Minister Sherif Ismail said he does not rule outthe possibility ofa terrorist act onboard the EgyptAir passenger plane that disappeared overthe Mediterranean Sea earlier onThursday.

Its still too early tospeak ofthe reasons forthe disappearance ofthe aircraft, Ismail told journalists, adding that he does not exclude the possibility ofa terrorist act onboard.

Egypt Air Flight MS804 departed fromthe Charles de Gaulle Airport inParis at23:09 GMT. The aircraft was heading forCairo International Airport. According tothe airline, there were a total of66 people onboard the plane, including 56 passengers.

Earlier French Prime Minister Manuel Valls said that no assumption can be ruled outat this stage onthe causes ofthe disappearance ofthe Airbus A320 ofthe EgyptAir airline.

"No hypothesis can be rejected atthe current stage onthe causes ofthis [aircrafts] disappearance," Valls told the RTL broadcaster.
