Saddam supporters will face same fate: Iran official

A high-ranking Iranian military official has warned that supporters of the defunct Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, particularly his regional allies, will face the same fate.
Politicians as well as bullying and oppressive powers better take lessons from the eight-year Iraqi-imposed war on Iran and think about the fate of Saddam and the former Egyptian dictator Hosni Mubarak and other dictators, Major General Yahya Rahim-Safavi, a senior military adviser to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, said on Saturday.

He stated that a democratic and parliamentary Islamic system has been established in Iraq, added that while the US made efforts to exert pressure on Iran by occupying Iraq and hatching different plots, it faced nothing but humiliation.

Rahim-Safavi said the Iraqi-imposed war on Iran and the Islamic Revolution have led to great developments in the world.

"The Islamic Iran is now a model of resistance for the worlds freedom-seeking movements and a role model for nations resisting against bullying and arrogant powers, he pointed out.
