Zarif visits Warsaw monument of gratitude for Iran
TEHRAN (Tasnim) Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Monday attended a ceremony at Warsaws monument of gratitude", a memorial to the people of Iran for hosting a huge number of Polish refugees who had fled the Second World War more than 70 years ago.





During the ceremony in the Polish capital, Zarif and a number of other Iranian diplomats laid flowers at the monument, which comemorates people of Iran for generously welcoming over 120,000 Polish refugees escaping from the Soviet Union with the Anders Army in 1942.

Travelling with a delegation of mostly private sector businessmen, the Iranian foreign minister arrived in Poland on Sunday as part of a European tour, which will take him later to Finland, Sweden, and Latvia.

Zarif met his Polish counterpart Witold Waszczykowski on Sunday to discuss a range of issues and sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on periodic political consultations between the two countries.

The top Iranian diplomat will leave for Helsinki later today.
