Riga, June 2, IRNA Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif met and conferred Thursday with Latvian President Raimonds Vejonis in the latter's residence Jurmala, 25 km of capital of Latvia.
Zarif arrived here as the last destination of his four-nation European tour that started on May 29.
President Vejonis, in the meeting, hoped Riga and Tehran would widen relations in all areas particularly in tourism, trade, parliamentary and political fields.
For his part, the Iranian foreign minister said the two courtiers have potentials to promote bilateral economic ties.
To achieve that end, the foreign minister stressed importance of facilitating banking relations.
Zarif invited the Latvian president to visit Iran and called for continuation of diplomatic relations between the two sides.
Top Iranian and Latvian officials also exchanged views on developments and crises in the Western Asia region.
