Iran Air said that the MoU was signed after visit of Boeing company's representatives to Iran and holding several rounds of talks with senior Iranian officials on renovation of Iran's passenger planes.
The MoU permits purchase of several Boeing family airplanes, including 737 (new generation) and models 900 and 300 from Boeing 777 series by Iran Air.
The Iran Air's public relations announced that the contract will be finalized on the condition of obtaining final permissions from the Iranian and US governments.

The Iranian minister reiterated that the deal with Boeing has been finalized, and said, 'Its details will be announced within next few days.'
Akhoundi reiterated that Iran has been able to save at least $5 million in its last negotiations over the finalization of the purchase.
