Zarif's Paris visit, important to mutual confidence

Tehran, June 21, IRNA In past two years, the Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has had two working visits to Paris, France, but his today travel is an official one that will be an effective step towards bolstering mutual confidence between the two countries.

The today (June 21) official visit of an Iranian foreign minister to Paris will be the first after over a decade.

About a year ago, the French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius did pay an official visit to Tehran, and today travel of Zarif to Paris is taking place within the framework of bilateral agreement on political talks signed between the two countries during the visit of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to France in late January.

In Paris, Zarif plans to hold talks with his French counterpart and some other top officials there.

He will also attend an Iftar (fast breaking feast) ceremony with participation of a number of ambassadors of Islamic countries as well as officials of Islamic bodies there.

During January travel of President Rouhani to Paris, 35 documents of cooperation were signed by the two sides.

Among those documents was the agreement on formation of joint economic commission which was signed by the two countries' foreign ministers.

Today Paris visit is an ample opportunity for following up the process of implementation of the mentioned agreements.

Various issues including bilateral cooperation in scientific, cultural, economic and political fields, removal of obstacles on that cooperation and international and regional developments as well as finding diplomatic solutions to fight against terrorism and extremism will be discussed by the two sides during Zarif's stay in Paris.

Paris trip can bring important outcomes in line with international, regional and bilateral questions as the two countries have special foothold in both international and regional arenas.

As certain lobbies and groups are awaiting destruction of Iran-France relations, the two nations should be vigilant and not let the enemies intrigue against those bilateral ties.
