Majidis Muhammad to be screened in Moscow filmfest.

TEHRAN, Jun. 26 (MNA) Majid Majidis biopic Muhammad: The Messenger of God will be screened in 2016 Moscow International Film Festival in Russia.


The latest film by renowned Iranian director Majid Majidi (3-time winner of the ?Grand Prix des Amriques) will be screened in the 38th edition of Moscow International Film Festival on June 29with an aim to further introduce the Russian-speaking community with Iranian contemporary cinema.

This 171-minute epic on the early years of the prophet of Islam is, with a ?budget of over $50 million, the most expensive film ever made in Iran, and has been in production for ?five years.

??Majidi will also accompany his film to Moscow along with ?principal members of his cast and crew.?

In addition to Majidi's production, 'The Daughter' by Reza Mirkarimi will be screened in the Russain festival on Sunday. Mirkarimi's latest flick narrates the life of Mr. Azizi who leads an uneventful family life in an oil town of southern Iran. Until one day, his daughter Setareh, much exasperated by her father's authoritarianism, announces she is off to Tehran which is met with his fathers objections.

Mirkarimi has previously won the Best Film Award (Golden Goerge award)at 2008 Moscow festival for his As Simple as That, while Today, A Cube of Sugar and some other films by this director have been translated into Russian.

Moscow International Film Festival, founded in 1935, is one of the most prestigious cultural events in the world and is holding its 38th edition on 23-30 June, 2016.
