Iran sends commercial attaché to Russia to promote bilateral trade

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Head of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPO) Valiollah Afkhami Rad said the country’s commercial attaché has been stationed in the Russian capital to help boost economic relations between the two countries.

Speaking at a meeting with a number of Iranian economic activists and businessmen, Afkhami Rad said the commercial attaché has been stationed in Moscow and is ready to provide consultations to Iranian merchants and facilitate trade, the TPO’s public relations department reported.

Afkhami Rad, who is also deputy minister of industry, mines, and trade, further pointed to the start of direct flights between Tehran and Astrakhan earlier this month, saying that Iranian merchants can utilize the regular flights, which are operated two days a week, to have an easier access to the Russian market.

Back in November 2015, Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said Tehran and Moscow are resolved to increase the volume of their trade to $3-4 billion in 3 years.

In the same month, Russia President Vladimir Putin paid an official visit to Iran and signed seven agreements and MoUs with his Iranian counterpart to boost mutual cooperation.
