Turkish envoy thanks Iran for sharing grief over terror attacks in Istanbul

Tehran, June 29, IRNA Turkish Ambassador to Tehran Reza Hakan Tekin on Wednesday appreciated sympathy and condolence of Iranian officials on Istanbul Ataturk International Airport terrorist attacks.

In a telephone interview with IRNA, Tekin put the latest casualties at 41 dead and 200 other were injured. Some 10 of the dead are foreigners.
He said that one Iranian citizen died and five other Iranians were injured.

The ambassador said that Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif immediately after terrorist incident expressed sympathy with victims in a twitter message.

Tekin said that the Turkish government is fighting with terrorist group of PKK for more than 30 years and that in recent years new terrorist groups have emerged in the region and Turkey and that the government is fighting with them as well.

The current waves of violence in Iraq and Syria caused emergence of terrorist groups like Daesh, he said.

The ambassador said that terrorism caused great deal of damage to Turkey, which is neighbor of both countries.

Daesh and PKK terrorism gained momentum against Turkey and the government is determined to destroy the two terrorist organizations, but effective and sustainable solution for terrorism necessitates international and regional cooperation, he said.

The ambassador said that the Turkish government is ready to cooperate with Iran in the international campaign against terrorism.

Tekin prayed to God to bestow peace on the souls of the people lost their lives in airport terror attacks and immediate recovery for injured people.
