Turkish parliamentarian thankful of Iran for condemning coup

Ankara, July 20, IRNA Turkish National Assembly Secretary General Irfan Neziroglu said on Wednesday he was thankful of Iran for condemning the coup attempt in Turkey by Iranian speaker of parliament Ali Larijani.

'Thus far, only speakers of Iranian, Pakistani, Azeri and Turkish section of Cyprus have contacted with Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey ?smail Kahraman to voice solidarity with Turkish people and condemn the failed coup.'

'We expect the international community to condemn the coup plotters' move explicitly and quickly without any hesitation; international media magnify what happens in Europe and western governments also show tough reaction but as for the very big and dirty event in Turkey last Friday, we saw that certain European countries overlooked the issue by issuing clich-type statements and making general statements. Even we did see that following the coup, an American senator tweeted in a social media claiming that 'real democracy' we come to Turkey'.

Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani in a phone call with Turkish counterpart on Monday voiced regret over the coup and said gone is the era of militarism.

He said Iranian government and nation are highly depressed over bitter coup event and since the beginning they voiced their stance on condemnation of the coup.
