Deal with Linde, JCPOA outcome: Official

TEHRAN, Aug 02 (Shana) -- Managing director of National Petrochemical Company (NPC) says signature of a deal with Germany's chemical giant Linde Group for one of the major petrochemical projects in Iran is one of the outcomes of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Marziyeh Shahdaei, who is also deputy petroleum minister in petrochemical affairs, speaking following a ceremony to sign a FEED (Front End Engineering Design) deal between Kian Petrochemical Plants and Germany's Linde Group for obtaining technical savvy for the construction of an olefin, butadiene, hydrodealkylation and benzene unit for the plant in Assalouyeh, south of Iran, said Linde has agreed to carry out an important petrochemical project in Iran which has been made possible by the JCPOA.

She also expressed satisfaction over the fact that the private sector in Iran has become strong enough to cement such major deals with foreign partners.

Linde, the world's biggest producer of industrial gases and chemicals, was one of the firms which had to leave Iran after US-led sanctions on Tehran's nuclear program intensified after 2012.
The 12-month deal has been signed with 34.940m of financial credit.

Kian Petrochemical Company was launched in 2012 in Assalouyeh Petrochemical Complex, south of Iran.

FEED (Front End Engineering Design) The FEED is basic engineering which comes after the Conceptual design or Feasibility study.

The FEED design focuses the technical requirements as well as rough investment cost for the project. The FEED can be divided into separate packages covering different portions of the project.
