Saudis wanted to destroy Iranian pilgrims' dignity: Hajj official

Gorgan, Golestan Prov, Aug 3, IRNA Head of Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization said the Saudi rulers did not follow even the least of human principles and political literature during talks with the Iranian officials, stressing they were to question Iranian pilgrims' esteem.

Saeed Ohadi made the remarks in a meeting Tuesday evening with Ayatollah Kazem Nourmofidi, Friday prayers leader of Gorgan in this northeastern Iranian province.

The Saudis say that the September 24 Mina tragedy, during which over 5,000 pilgrims including 461 Iranians were killed due to stampede, has been destiny in which no one should interfere, said Ohadi.

Iran presented 20 proposals to Riyadh in order to provide due security for the Iranian pilgrims, said Ohadi, adding 'Unfortunately, they did not want even to review those proposals. Instead, they made baseless accusations against Iran'.

Referring to the upcoming Hajj rituals and the first anniversary of Mina tragedy, Ohadi said several foreign news conferences will be held on the event.

For his part, the Friday prayers leader in this province said the Saudi rulers will destroy themselves if they continue their wrong policies.

Saudi Arabia has no power, the Ayatollah said, adding that it is supported by the US and the Zionist regime.

He further referred to 49 Gorgani pilgrims killed in Mina incident, saying 48 of those pilgrims have been Sunni Muslims.

Sunni Muslims enjoy a good position in this province, he stressed.
