TEHRAN, Aug. 09 (MNA) Iranian heavyweight weightlifters Barari and Salimi left Iran on Tuesday morning to participate in Rio 2016 Summer Olympic Games.
The third Iranian weightlifting squad comprisingMohammad Reza Barari and Behdad Salimi in 105-kg weight category left Tehran for Rio de Janeiro Tuesday morning accompanied by IWF's Bulgarian consultant Ivan Garchev.
Previously, President of Iran Weight lifting Federation (IWF) Ali Moradi, Chairman of the Federations Medical Committee Davoud Bagheri, Head Coach Sajad Anushiravani as well as weightlifters Kianoush Rostami (85kg), Sohrab Moradi (94kg), Ali Hashemi (94kg) had travelled to the 2016 Olympic venue.
Rostami would be Irans first weightlifter to appear on stage on Friday August 12 while the 105-kg weight category competitions will be held on August 16-17.
The Rio 2016 Olympic Games is underway with 10,500 athletes from 205 countries who are to compete in 44 articles of 28 sports fields.
