August 20, The Iran Project - Secretary of the Syrian parliament stresses that Iran-Russias high level of military cooperation in Syria is a great step in the eradication of terrorism.
Speaking to a reporter on Saturday, Secretary of the Syrian parliament Khaled al-Aboud said Russian bomber jets using one of Irans airbases for flying to Syria to launch airstrikes against ISIS terrorist group indicates the two countries high level of military cooperation, describing it as a slap in the face of terrorism sponsors.
Al-Aboud stressed that we will soon see the fruits of cooperation between Tehran and Moscow in Syria, adding that fighting against expanded terrorism in the region and world requires the real coordination and solidarity of major powers.
Meanwile, Head of the Strategic Research Center of Iran's Expediency Council Ali Akbar Velayati Wednesday reiterated that there is nothing unexpected in the development of military cooperation between Iran and Russia to fight against terrorism.
He also dismissed comments from the US regarding Iranian-Russian cooperation on fight against terrorism as subjective, noting the presence of Iran and Russia in Syria is legal, because the Syrian government has requested it.
Russias air and space force for the first time used Irans Hamadan airdrome to attack terrorists in Syria on August 16. Sukhoi-34 and long-range Tupolev-22M3 bombers participated in the raid. They hit facilities of ISIS and Jabhat al-Nusra in Syria.
