Iran finishes second in 2013 Asian kata championships
The National Iranian judo team has claimed second spot at the 2013 Asian Kata Championships in Singapore.
On Sunday, Iranian judokas Mohammad Ali Nodehi and Amir Farzaneh Hesari performed some astonishing grappling maneuvers in the nage-no-kata, and grabbed a silver medal. Nage-no-kata is a form of throwing in judo.

Mohammad Hassan Salari and Mohammad Reza Sahraei snatched the second silver for Iran in the ju-no-kata.

The Iranian nage-no outfit finished second in a tough competition with the Japanese team on Sunday, and pocketed the third silver.

Earlier in the day, the Iranian squad - consisting of Mojtaba Bajelan and Seyyed Reza Rohani -- won a silver medal in the kata-mono-kata. Iranian judokas Mohammad Hassan Najafi and Alireza Karimi bagged silver in the goshin jutsu. Goshin jutsu is a set of prearranged self-defense forms in Judo.

Meanwhile, Iranian kimenokata judokas - Seyyed Hossein Mahmoudi and Hassan Roshanaei - collected the fifth silver medal for Iran on Sunday.

The Japanese team won five golds to stand first in the 2013 Asian Kata Championship in which judokas from ten countries -including Iran, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore -- took part.

Iran stood second with five silver medals followed by South Korea which ranked third with four bronze medals.
