Russia and Iran plan to continue discussions over the deteriorating situation in Afghanistan, the Russian Foreign Ministrys representative for Afghanistan said Thursday.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) Zamir Kabulov said Moscow and Tehran agreed to continue consultations and cooperation in support of the Afghan government to successfully counter the threat posed by Daesh.
"On Afghanistan, the Iranians share with us [Russia] the deep concern about the deterioration of both the military and political situation in this country.
They are concerned even more than us about the growing threat of Daesh, which threatens the stability not only of Afghanistan, but the entire region," Kabulov told RIA Novosti. "Of course, we will together with the Iranians and other like-minded partners promote stabilization in Afghanistan, both in military and political terms, as well as economically," he stressed.
