Rouhani underlines political intention of Iran, Slovenia to boost ties
New York, Sept 21, IRNA President Hassan Rouhani underlined Iran, Slovenia political intention to develop and deepen bilateral ties in all fields saying that making use of the vast existing capacities between the two capitals would be beneficial for both nations.


President Rouhani made the remarks on Wednesday in a meeting with Slovenian President Borut Pahor that was held on the sidelines of the 71st United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Following implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Pplan of Action (JCPOA), a better and more appropriate opportunity was prepared for promotion of bilateral ties to boost politico-economic and cultural relations between the two countries, President Rouhani said.

He underlined that economic development requires activating banking relations between the two countries.

Regarding the remarkable geographical position of Iran in the region, Rouhani said that Iran connects the east of Europe and Mediterranean Sea to the Indian Ocean.

He stressed that Iran's geographical position along with its educated manpower and vast energy resources are suitable grounds for boosting bilateral cooperation and joint ventures between the two countries which would lead to reach tens of millions of regional population markets.

President Rouhani also welcomed re-opening of the Slovenian embassy in Tehran and said that the move would be very effective in developing relations between Tehran and Ljubljana and would facilitate joint ventures of investors of the two countries.

President Rouhani reiterated that regional problems and complications have only political solutions and need joint cooperation of all countries.

He added that the two countries can have effective cooperation in different fields including the fight against terrorism and other important problems of the region.

Meanwhile, President Pahor expressed Ljubljana's interest and intention to develop politico-economic and cultural relations with Tehran.

He added that Slovenia is willing to reopen its embassy in Tehran and this indicates Slovenian strong intention to boost all-out ties with Iran.

Concerning regional cooperation between Iran and Slovenia, Pahor said that as a member of European Union, Slovenia believes in political solution to settle regional problems and believes Iran is playing an effective and importance role to this end.

President Pahor also invited his Iranian counterpart to pay an official visit to Slovenia.
