Tehran, Oct 25, IRNA Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi on Tuesday welcomed resolution of the European Parliament to normalize ties with Iran, saying that it indicates the resolve on the European Union to expand relations with Iran.
European lawmakers approved a motion on normalization of relations with Iran at the European Parliament in Strasbourg on Tuesday.
In addition to considering Iran's influential role in the region and contribution to the international peace and stability in the Middle East region, the resolution calls for expansion of relations with Iran in all political, economic, energy, scientific, educational, research and environment areas, the spokesman said.
Calling on the European Union to refrain from a political approach to human rights issue, Qasemi said that Iran is ready to engage in calm negotiations over human rights and present the Islamic views about human rights.
On Iran's missile capabilities, he said that Iran's missile tests are carried out in the context of national defense strategy and that Iran's defense capabilities are not negotiable by any means.
