Sputnik- The director of the Iranian National Museum said that the influx of tourists to Iran has considerably increased after the nuclear deal entered into force in early 2016.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) The influx oftourists toIran has considerably increased afterthe nuclear deal, dubbed Joint Comprehensive Plan ofAction (JCPOA), entered intoforce inearly 2016, Jebrael Nokandeh, the director ofthe Iranian National Museum, told Sputnik.
"The flow oftourists, attracted byour ancient historical and cultural monuments, has increased significantly sincethe JCPOA entered intoforce," Nokandeh said Friday.
Ties betweenIran and international cultural organizations have strengthened, Nokandeh noted, stressing that cooperation betweenIran's Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Organization and large museums aroundthe globe has become particularly intense. On July 14, 2015, Iran and the P5+1 group ofworld powers the United States, the United Kingdom, France, China and Russia plus Germany signed the JCPOA, ensuring the peaceful nature ofTehran's nuclear program inreturn forthe gradual lifting ofsanctions.
The agreement came intoforce onJanuary 16, afterthe International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) submitted a report confirming the readiness ofIran's authorities toimplement a program toreduce the countrys nuclear potential.
