MNA� The rector of Iran University of Science and Technology said Mon. Tadbir imaging Satellite designed and built by Iranian researchers is in line for launch.


Mohammad Ali Barkhordari told Mehr News that the first satellite launched by Iran University of Science and Technology was named �Navid� which was successfully launched and returned home after completing its mission.

�The second satellite with more advanced features than the first one has been designed, constructed and already delivered to Iranian Space Agency,� he added.

Barkhordari then referred to �Tadbir� Satellite, saying while it is ready to be put into orbit, the exact date for its launching is still undecided; �about 80 researchers at the satellite research center in Iran University of Science and Technology are working on satellite projects that have been requested to be built.�

�Although the process on some research projects have slowed down due to limited budget, the satellite projects are making fast progress,� he said.

He also noted that a new agreement has been signed at Iran University of Science and Technology on the construction of satellites with�a higher technical capacity.

�In some fields, we still need development but in other areas�we have become fully self-sufficient,� he said. �a South Korean delegation that recently paid a visit to the IUST was completely surprised at our advancements in building satellite accessories.�

�We have made quite a good progress in building university satellites, and the technical knowledge of such satellites are being constantly developed,� he said.
