IRNA Commander of the Islamic Republic Navy Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said on Saturday that peace and security of the region must be guaranteed by collective cooperation of the regional states.
Speaking to a group of foreign military attaches, Sayyari said, 'We believe that regional security will be guaranteed through contribution of all regional states. There is no need to ultra-regional states and others to come to the region.'
He said that the Islamic Republic of Iran's message has always been the message of peace and friendship.
'We are confident that this meeting will provide the ground for consolidation of relations among governments, armed forces, especially the navy forces, securing the sustainable peace.'
Recalling guidelines of the commander-in-chief of the armed forces on maritime security, Sayyari said, 'Sea profits belong to all and sea facilities also belong to nations; how can the sea resources be used?'
He noted that such strength can be provided by navy forces of countries.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Sayyari said thanks to guidelines of the Supreme Leader and strong resolve of the navy forces, Iranian Navy is present in free waters by dispatch of the forces of peace and friendship to develop international cooperation at sea to maintain international peace and security and combat sea piracy and drug and human trafficking.
He said today, effective steps have been taken for economic development in the sea, while fighting the sea pirates.
Today, Iran's ownership and authority is more than ever, proven beyond Iranian sea borders, Sayyari said.
