FNA- Iranian leader's top military advisor Major General Hassan Firouzabadi underscored that British Prime Minister Theresa May's recent visit to the region was aimed at creating rift between Iran and the Persian Gulf Arab states.
"Britain is the main culprit behind the suppression of the opressed Muslim Bahraini nation. When Britain witnessed its hirelings' inability and failure, its prime minister came to the region at their (the Bahraini rulers') dishonorable invitation to sow discord between them and the Islamic Republic of Iran and cover up the defeat of its puppet rulers against the Muslim Bahraini nation by projecting the blame on others," Firouzabadi said on Sunday.
He added that Britain also seeks to help its arms manufacturers to flourish by selling their weapons to the Persian Gulf Arab states.
Firouzabadi addressed the British prime minister, and said when the US, the big arrogant power, is seeking to find a way out of the region, what damn thing could Britain, the little arrogant power, do.
His remarks came after Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei blasted May for her recent anti-Iran statements, and said the UK's policies and measures in the past two centuries have been a source of evil and threat to the nations in the region.
"For over two centuries the United Kingdom has served as a source of evil and squalor for nations in our region," Ayatollah Khamenei said on Saturday on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and in reaction to the recent remarks made by the British prime minister against Iran's role in the region in a meeting of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) in Bahrain.
Addressing a number of senior officials and diplomatic representatives of Muslim countries as well as participants of an international unity conference in Tehran, Ayatollah Khemenei pointed to the British governments divisive bids in India, Pakistan, Iran, and Iraq, and said, "Now, British official (May) shamelessly claims that Iran is a threat to the region.
May recently said in the Bahraini capital of Manama that Britain would help push back against what she claimed was Irans aggressive regional actions.
Ayatollah Khamenei, meantime, called for unity among Muslims against the plots hatched by Israel and the US.
"The unity is the only solution to extricate Muslims from their sufferings which are being caused by the US and the Zionists," the Supreme Leader said.
"Should we unite and proceed toward Islamic goals in a united manner, then the US and the malignant, nefarious Zionist nexus can no longer hold nations in their clutches," Ayatollah Khamenei added.
Ayatollah Khamenei underlined that today the Muslim world is facing great tribulations, the way out of which is Islamic unity.
Today, Muslim killings are taking place from Myanmar to Africa; some are being killed at the hands of Boko Haram, others by Buddhists," he added.
The Supreme Leader said that there are two volitions at contrast with each other in the region; the will for unity and the will for schism, adding, "Should unity transpire, the situation will not be as it is today and Muslims will earn esteem."
Ayatollah Khamenei said the British version of Shiite Islam and the American version of Sunni Islam, which pit Muslims against one another, are two blades of the same pair of scissors.
"The British policy of divide and rule is seriously being pursued by the enemies of Islam," the Supreme Leader added.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that the global Muslim unity, the most important type of readiness needed by the Muslim world, would abort the conspiracy to consign the issue of Palestine to oblivion.
The Supreme Leader also said that the arrogance increased its anti-Islam efforts after the victory of Irans Islamic Revolution because it is afraid of the establishment and continued existence of a powerful and model Islamic establishment.
