Most countries sharing positive assessment of Iran nuclear deal - Moscow

Sputnik- Most countries are sharing the Russian positive assessment of the implementation of the so-called joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on the Iranian nuclear program, and the work on this issue is expected to continue with the new US administration, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said Monday.

UNITED NATIONS (Sputnik) Speaking aboutthe future work onthe JCPOA withthe administration ofUS President-elect Donald Trump, Ryabkov said he did not expect the tone ofwork tochange. "Everyone shared our point ofview that there are no unsolvable and insurmountable problems inthe implementation ofthe Joint Comprehensive Plan ofAction," Ryabkov told reporters. "Overall assessment ofthe first year [of the JCPOA implementation] is definitely positive."

The deputy foreign minister added that, although, there have been skeptical views, especially fromsome NGOs, there are no signs ofpossible disruptions inthe implementation ofthe agreement and stakeholders are determined tocontinue their work.

On July 14, 2015, Iran and the P5+1 group ofcountries, including the United States, Russia, China, France and the United Kingdom plus Germany, signed the JCPOA, ensuring the peaceful nature ofTehran's nuclear program inreturn forthe gradual sanctions relief. The agreement came intoforce onJanuary 16, 2016, afterthe International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) submitted a report confirming the readiness ofIran's authorities toimplement the program toreduce the countrys nuclear potential. Iran ramped upboth oil production and investment inthe sector afterthe deal.
