Attack on Iran may trigger World War III: Iranian envoy
Irans Ambassador to France Ali Ahani has warned against any military attack against the Islamic Republics nuclear facilities, saying such aggression may lead to World War III.

A potential Israeli attack against Iran with an objective of destroying its scientific and nuclear facilities is sheer madness. Its consequences are disastrous and uncontrollable, Ahani said, Fars news agency reported.

 
Iran Navy set to launch new Shaheed Bayandor destroyer
A senior Iranian naval commander says Iran is set to launch a new indigenous destroyer called Shaheed Bayandor in line with efforts to boost naval capabilities.

Irans Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said Saturday that the destroyer will officially join the Iranian naval fleet by next month.

 
Iranian novel The Colonel to vie for Best Translated Book Award
The English version of the Iranian novelThe Colonelby Mahmoud Dowlatabadi has been nominated for the 2013 Best Translated Book Award (BTBA).

Dowlatabadis book entered the nomination final list of the American literary event BTBA held by the University of Rochester in the United States.

 
Iran urged to boost nuke safety review after quake
The head of the Gulf states main political bloc is urging Iran to join an international accord on nuclear safety following an earthquake near the countrys lone energy-producing reactor.

Abdullatif bin Rashid al-Zayani, secretary-general of the Gulf Cooperation Council, opened a meeting Sunday in Riyadh to discuss nuclear safety issues after last weeks 6.1 magnitude quake about 96 kilometers (60 miles) southeast of Bushehr, the site of Irans reactor.
