IRNA Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif on Monday stresses the need to have consensus in the field of Foreign Policy arguing that a coherent Foreign Policy would guarantee national interest.
Zarif made the remarks during a meeting with a number of the Iranian lawmaker held at the venue of the Foreign Ministry downtown Tehran.
He further underlined that Iran's Foreign Ministry can benefit from views discussed by the friendship commissions of the Iranian parliament (Majlis).
Zarif called for more serious coordination between the Foreign Ministry and Majlis in the area of diplomacy.
Commenting on the US President Donald Trump's visa ban imposed on nationals of seven Muslim countries including Iran, Zarif said that the Iranian nationals in other countries faced problems following the order.
He stressed that based on its primary duty, the Foreign Ministry has defended rights of the Iranian compatriots who are indeed considered as 'national asset' of the country.
'Iranians are considered our national assets and we protect their rights inside and outside the country, Zarif said.
