MNA� An Iranian delegation headed by Health Minister Hassan Hashemi has arrived in Cuba to sign a number of MoUs on pharmaceutical and biotechnology cooperation.


Upon arriving�in Havana, deputy Minister of Health Rasoul Dinarvand said Iran-Cuba's technological relations trace back to some 20 years ago where Pasteur Institute of Iran and an institute in Cuba signed an agreement on Hepatitis B vaccine technology transfer to the Islamic Republic.

�Followign the signing of the agreement, the production line for Hepatitis B vaccine was launched in Iran, and its production has continued until now,� he added.

According to Dinarvand, a Cuban delegation visited Iran a few months ago and the visit of Iranian delegation to Havana is the second meeting of its kind between the two countries.

He also announced that the two countries, in addition to health agreements, will sign a number of MoUs on agricultural and technological cooperation.

�Pasteur Institute and a Cuban biotechnological institute will sign an agreement on health cooperation today. The Food and Drug Administration of Iran�s Ministry of Health will also ink an agreement on registering and expanding pharmaceutical and biotechnological cooperation,� he said.

He went on to express hope that despite the long distance between the two countries, the two sides will be able to implement the agreements reached during Iran-Cuba�s 15th Joint Economic Commission�s meeting as soon as possible.
