IRNA � Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in a message congratulated Iranian Wrestling Squad�s victory in the 45th round of the Freestyle Wrestling World Cup which was held in the city of Kermanshah in Western Iran.


Iran�s freestyle team defeating US squad 5-3 in the final match and ranked first for the 8th time in Wrestling World Cup.

�I congratulate the sixth consecutive victory of Iranian national wrestling team in Wrestling World Cup and I appreciate their efforts,� the message reads.

The Iranian squad managed to defeat its Mongolian rival 7-1 to reach the final stage.

The prestigious competition started in Kermanshah on Thursday (Feb 16) with a match between Iranian and Turkish wrestlers.

Eight top world wrestling teams, including Iran, Russia, US, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Mongolia and India, attended the two-day international event.

The US ranked second and Azerbaijan team stood on the third place.

The 45th round of the 2017 Freestyle World Cup was held with the attendance of eight top world teams in Kermanshah Province on February 16-17.
