FNA- Iran confirmed on Sunday the detention of an Iranian-American on charges of fraud.
"Adual nationality Iranian-American was detained recently," Judiciary Spokesman Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei told a weekly press conference in Tehran today.
He declined to mention the charges of the detainee, but stated that the detainee had taken over 100bln rials ($3.1m)from the Iranian citizens to allegedly pave the ground for their immigration to foreign countries, implying fraud charges.
In a relevant development, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) announced in a statement in August that it had arrested a dual nationality Iranian-American in the city of Gorgan in Iran's Northern province of Golestan.
The person, whose name was not released in the statement, was arrested in Gorgan city in mid-July on charges of cooperation with enemy states, acting against Iran's national security and relationship with counterrevolutionary elements.
