FNA- The recent meeting between Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Islamabad yielded positive results, a spokesman said on Monday.

"The meeting was held at the demand of the Turkish side and we think that it was a timely meeting which yielded positive results," Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi told reporters in a press conference in Tehran on Monday after the recent meeting between Rouhani and Erdogan on the sidelines of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) summit in Pakistan.

He added that during the meeting the two chief executives clearly discussed the latest developments in bilateral ties and both sides agreed on certain issues.

Also earlier reports said during the meeting on the sidelines of the 13th ECO summit meeting in Pakistan's capital on Wednesday, the Iranian and Turkish presidents explored avenues for bolstering and reinvigorating mutual cooperation.

In the meeting, President Rouhani underlined the need for collective fight against terrorism by the regional countries.

President Rouhani and his Turkish counterpart also exchanged views on regional developments.
