IRNA -- Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi on Monday said that the US is incompetent to bring stability and security to the region.
Speaking to reporters on his weekly press briefing, he responded to a question raised on construction of a military base by the US in Iran-Armenia joint border and said Karabakh crisis is very deeply rooted and its ignition dated back to the collapse of Soviet Union and this should be resolved between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
The US presence in different places mainly in west of Asia was not successful and failed to bring stability and security to those regions, he said.
The US suffering from strategic mistakes and the costs emanating from these costs will be remained for decades similar to what we are now witnessing in the Middle East region, he said.
Our experiences indicate that the US policies in the region backfires, he said.
He advised the US officials to adopt a factual stand in dealing with regional developments and let people in the region to resolve their issues on their own.
Iran never interferes in developments in its neighboring states, he said adding that they are independent and make decision on their fates.
