Iran, Belarus review developing ties

IRNA Iranian ambassador to Minsk Mustafa Oveisi and the speaker of Council of the Republic of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich in a Monday meeting discussed issues of mutual interest.

Speaking in the meeting, Myasnikovich said that grounds have been prepared for expanding all-out ties between Tehran and Minsk.

Belarusian speaker stressed on widening parliamentary cooperation, urging his Iranian counterpart to have a trip to Belarus.

Oveisi also pointed to the role of parliamentary ties as crucial in developing cooperation in a balanced way.

Iran is ready to expand cooperation and implement the roadmap on cementing ties and find fresh grounds for increasing relations, Oveisi said.

Myasnikovich heading a high-profile parliamentary delegation had a trip to Tehran on February 6-8 and held talks with Majlis (Parliament) speaker Ali Larijani and Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

Based on the roadmap sealed between Iran and Belarus on May 4, 2016, both countries targeted boosting economic ties from $75m to $250m up to the end of 2017.
