US launches missile attack on Syrian airfield
IRNA According to Western media the US launched dozens of cruise missiles Thursday night on a Syrian airfield in response to the alleged use of chemical weapons in Khan Shaykhun near Idleb.


According to NBC, two US warships in the Mediterranean Sea fired 59 Tomahawk missiles intended for a single target - Shayrat Airfield in Homs province in western Syria, the US Defense Department said.

NBC quoted a US official as claiming that Washington had 'multiple conversations' with the Russian government ahead of the missile strike.

In the meantime, the emergency meeting of the United Nations (UN) Security Council ended on Wednesday (April 6) without voting for the Western countries plan to condemn Syria for its alleged use of chemical weapons in Khan Shaykhun.

Meanwhile, a number of US Congress democrat senators and representative on Thursday (April 6) warned American President Donald Trump on his possible attack on Syria maintaining that any measures should be approved by the Congress.

The recent attack is considered as the first US direct invasion on Syria during Trump tenure.

The missile attack was carried out without the permission from UNSC and the US Congress.

Syria strongly denies role in Idleb chemical attack.

Syrian military forces are fighting agianst Daesh terrorists in the east of Homs province and the Takfiri group, formerly known as al-Nusra Front, in north of the country.
