Speaking to a reporter on Wednesday, a member ofMajlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Morteza Safari Natanzi referred to the United States threatening Russia and Iran with tougher sanctions over their support for Syria and said America's recent measures in the missile attack on Syria are clear violation of international law and international community must respond to these actions.
International pressure can now make the US to implement its international obligations and this will reduce international tensions, the Iranian lawmaker added.
Safari Natanzi noted that America can no longer pursue its unilateralism in the regional and international arenas, stressing that US policy in the international area should be limited.
US cannot weaken the two main actors in the Syrian crisis, said the Iranian law maker, referring to the America'sdecision to implement new sanctions against Russia and Iran for Syrias support as funny.
US President Donald Trump is considering implementing new sanctions against Russia and Iran which support Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, the US ambassador to UN, Nikki Haley has said in an interview with CNN.
Washington has alleged that the government of President Assad is responsible for the last weeks suspected chemical attack in Idlib province which killed more than 80 people.
Moscow and Damascus have denied that the Syrian government had anything to do with the attack. The Russian Defense Ministry said the US had no proof of chemical weapons at al-Shayrat airbase, where it fired 59 Tomahawk missiles, killing several people and reportedly destroying a number of Syrian aircraft.
Iran has condemned both the alleged chemical attack and the US missile strike on Syria, saying Washingtons illegal action will embolden terrorist groups in the Middle East region.
