April 16, The Iran Project A number of Iranian parliamentarians have stressed that the recent trilateral meeting of Iran, Russia and Syria to solve Syrian crisis showed their strategic alliance to counter terrorism.
In reaction to the recent US cruise missile strike against a Syrian army base under the pretext of responding to an alleged gas attack in the town of Khan Shaykhun, foreign ministers of Iran, Russia, and Syria slammed Washington for its hostile policies against the Syrian nation and called for an impartial investigation into the reported incident.
Speaking to a reporter on Sunday, an Iranian lawmaker Heshmatollah Falahatpisheh said after the recent US missile strikes against Syria, holding trilateral meeting between Iran, Russia and Syria was essential to review new field of developments.
Falahatpisheh went on to say that the three countries won't change their positions towards the Syrian crisis and will try to solve it through political solution.
On the other hand, Jalil Rahimi Jahan Abadi, a member of Iran Majlis, referred to Russia's dual behaviors, saying Moscow has created a coalition with America, Turkey and Saudi Arabia to sacrifice Syrian government and nation for its own interests.
Now, Iran should clearly redefine its interests on the Syrian issue and evaluate the situation based on the country's position, power and ability, he added.
However, Abolfazl Hassan Beigi, an Iranian parliamentarian pointed to the US recent attempts to change Russia's regional policies, especially towards Syria crisis, and said the trilateral meeting showed once again that Moscow is not going to alter its policies in the region.
Given that the world is going to be 'multi-polarizedand Iran is one of the most important regional actors, Russia prefers to stand by Iran and this alliance will be beneficial to both countries, Hassan Beigi stressed.
